FAQs
How long have you been a photographer?
I have been photographing with Canon for 15 years, and developed my photography during my time at University, exhibiting work across Leeds, Manchester and Barcelona. Since then, I have worked in art and photography education, and currently work as Head of Photography at a school in Cheshire. This experience re-inspired me to pursue a professional career as a photographer, which has been in the works since 2023.
Where are you based?
I am currently based in Warrington (WA4) and typically work within a 10 mile radius serving postcodes across Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester. The photoshoots always come to you - unless you have a special request for a specific location that helps to tell your story!
What are your photography inspirations?
I grew up around boxes upon boxes of 35mm family photographs taken by Dad as we grew up - which always provided us a means to document and look back on our shared experiences as a family - little windows into family holidays, birthdays and mundane moments at home. These photographs have undoubtedly shaped my love of the snapshot aesthetic, which is a style of photography that captures authentic moments with a lot of immediacy. Whilst I use a mirrorless camera, rather than the 35mm associated with the snapshot aesthetic, the principles of authenticity and candidness undoubtedly inspire my work today.
What sort editing can I expect?
For me, capturing authentic moments is the most important thing - so that the stories that are captured and shared are visually honest. That means whilst I will make edits to light, exposure, colour - the photographs remain honest depictions of that moment in time. Whilst I am happy to remove the one forgotten bobble (oh no!), I don’t make changes to body or face.
What sort of flexibility can families expect?
As an educator who’s worked across early years to college - working with young children to grumpy teenagers - I totally understand that having flexibility through the session is essential for everybody to feel comfortable. As such, flexible time is already a factor that is considered across all of my sessions (apart from the mini sessions!) in order to maximise the enjoyment for all and ensure your families immediate needs can be met throughout the session.
What equipment do you use?
As a lover of Canon, I made the switch to Canon Mirrorless in 2024 - Canon R6 Mark II. My favourite lens so far is the 24-70mm RF Lens by Canon, which is the lens I use most frequently in shoots. I am a big lover of natural light, and utilise it a lot as a means of taking beautiful photographs.
